Types of Offsets

What Can I Trade?
Offsets
A carbon offset negates or 'neutralises' a tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emitted in one place by avoiding the release of a tonne of CO2e elsewhere or absorbing/ sequestering a tonne of CO2e that would have otherwise remained in the atmosphere.
There are a number of tradable instruments currently in existence in Australia and internationally and it is ACX's intent to include these in the future. Initially the platform was developed for transactions in certified, Greenhouse Friendly™ Approved Abatement or VERs and today also lists NGACs and the international VER+.
The trading of carbon offsets allows for the achievement of GHG emission abatement to occur at least-cost.
