The EmMap™ system is a cost effective alternative to the expensive option of using consultants, particularly where a minimum of corporate knowledge is maintained and a dependency relationship develops.

EmMap™ Objectives

EmMap™ is a process that develops and captures corporate knowledge in a number of staged deliverables as the organistaion moves from issue awareness to the proactive management of its GHG exposure.

The 8 Phases of EmMap™

1. ESTABLISH ACCOUNTING STANDARDS Clear coherent and internationally compliant GHG accounting standards are an essential element in avoiding claims of misleading and deceptive conduct in relation to statements about a company’s carbon footprint

2. MEASURING EmMap provides tools & techniques to link your emission profile with your business plans and strategic goals, while also satisfying statutory reporting requirements such as the NGER Act.

3. IDENTIFY & COST abatement options: EmMap shows you how to identify abatement options and provides guidance on how to estimate the cost of each abatement option

4. ABATEMENT PLANNING uses the Marginal Abatement Curve MAC to determine the most cost effective combination of internal abatement and purchasing offsets from the market

5. IMPLEMENTATION EmMap allows  for the adjustment of the plan to take market price fluctuations into account in order to achieve the lowest cost outcome for a given target

6. MEASURE again at the end of the cycle to quantify the amount of physical internal abatement that has been achieved

7. RECONCILE the shortfall between the physical internal abatement achieved and the Offsets required to meet the target and ACQUIT the exact quantity of offsets that are required to be acquitted to meet the Abatement Plan Target

8. Independent AUDIT and REPORT performance, linking to the company’s GHG Accounting Standards to avoid misleading and deceptive conduct claims
